The red boathouse called rorbu is a traditional type of seasonal house normally located in a fishing village and used by fishermen.
The buildings are constructed on land, but with the one end on poles in the water, allowing easy access to vessels. The style and term is used along the coast of Norway, and is most common in Lofoten. Today the rorbu is mostly used by tourists visiting Lofoten.
