Værøy has everything typical of Lofoten in one place; midnight sun, white sandy beaches, a rich bird life (puffins), and a rich fishing history while still being a vibrant fishing village.

The biggest industry in Værøy is fishing and here the climate is perfect for stockfish production. The stockfish trade with foreign countries has led to Venice (Italy) becoming Værøy's friendly municipality.

The mountains on Værøy are steep but at the same time easy to hike. The most famous hike is Håheia. From Håheia you can see Måstad.
